Black Oak plank floors from Junckers is from ancient times know as one of nature’s own products made of oak stored submerged in a bog for centuries.

Natural processes cause the oak almost to become black and this characteristic color gives the wood a very authentic expression. Through a unique coloring technique Junckers has recreated this look and together with the excellent strength properties of the oak a very exclusive product for floors is achieved.

Junckers plank floors comes in three different grades. Each grade has its own particular characteristics and appearance. None of the three different grades are better or more durable than the others. It is simply a way to qualify the appearance. A Junckers plank floor comes in the grades Classic, Harmony and Variation. Read about the different grades under each type of plank flooring.

CHOOSE THE RIGHT FINISH FOR YOUR WOOD FLOOR

LACQUER

Lacquer is popularly perceived as the most durable finish, and often needs less maintenance than oil, but if you look after your wooden floor well there is little difference. Lacquer is available with different levels of sheen, a choice of Silkmatt or Ultramatt. Silkmatt lacquer makes the wood floor appear perfectly smooth with a slight sheen and an Ultramatt finish is virtually invisible to the eye, offering the durable lacquered surface with the look of an oiled finish. Both are hardwearing, easy to clean and suitable for wood floors that are in constant use.

ADD A COLOUR

White-washed, dark, grey or an entirely different colour – Junckers has a wide range of colour treatments with a level of transparency to allow the natural patterns in the timber to show through. Coloured wood floors can be pre-finished with an added finishing coat of oil or lacquer; or applied on site during a renovation or refurbishment of a floor.

OIL

Oil brings out the wood’s grain, beauty, and depth without adding high shine or gloss. Oiled plank floors are easy to spot repair by applying extra oil to areas that are heavily worn, whereas the whole area of a lacquered surface has to be lightly sanded before a re-lacquer can take place.

UNTREATED WOOD FLOORS

A Junckers wood floor can be delivered untreated, but it is important to remember that wooden flooring must be surface treated immediately after laying, before use. There are many options to choose from in Junckers’ professional Woodcare range.

CAN I USE UNDERFLOOR HEATING WITH TIMBER FLOORS?

Yes underfloor heating systems work well with timber floors, as timber conducts and holds the warmth produced by the floor heater and radiates this into the room. The natural properties of timber also mean that it has a fast heat-up time whilst also resisting heat from escaping too quickly, making timber helpful in maximising the energy-efficiency of an underfloor heating system. All of our plank floors are compatible with underfloor heating.
